Storing media files
To upload your files, any FTP client can be used. A common FTP client for Windows, FileZilla, can be downloaded here for free. For Mac users, Fetch can be downloaded here for free.
Accounts on this server are created for use by instructional groups on the UF campus. Although the account name will identify the group, you must use a valid GatorLink username and password to log in.
To log into your account and upload your files, follow the instructions below:
Suppose your group account on the server is filmnoir, your GatorLink username is bogie, and the password for bogie is IloveIngrid. The steps for login would look like this:
Host Name/Address: streaming.video.ufl.edu
User ID: filmnoir
Password: bogie/IloveIngrid
Note that the password for the server account is entered as a GatorLink username, a slash, and then the password for a GatorLink username. Only a specified list of users can log into the account this way. The list of users that can log into the group account can only be changed by the staff at Video & Collaboration Services.
Once you are logged in, media files are copied to the real subdirectory of the group account and is done so using the following steps:
On the local site, find the media file(s) on your local disk drive.
On the remote site, browse into the real subdirectory.
Highlight and click upload.
